Louang Prabang 4

I woke about 9, and after a coffee went to do the other sites in town before our Waterfall trip, booked for 13:20.

First stop was the Royal Palace Museum, which as well as housing a display about the removed Royal Family, houses the Pha Bang, the palladium of Laos, believed to possess powers to safeguard the country in which it is housed.

No pictures allowed!

Having walked round the museum it was time for some real exercise, an assault on Phou Si ( Sacred Hill) located in the centre of the city, geographically and spiritually.

First stop was Wat Pa Houak at the foot of the hill opposite the Royal Palace

Now it was time to climb the steep pathway to the summit.

But the effort is worth it.  Once at That Chomsi on the summit you are rewarded with wonderful views over town and the surrounding area.
