Pretty much there

I think I am pretty much there on the page format.

Hope you've noticed the menu on the header.  My aim is to provide permanent information here, including tourist attractions by province.  Where I've been and have photographs I'll enable a link to the post with the photos.

Out of town for a couple of days so the site layout will be static.  I'll review with a fresh mind when I get back, but having done what I've done so far, my mind keeps thinking how else can I improve the code.

OK

All being well, I'll try and modify the site tomorrow having tried everything on a test site.  The site will remain up, but you may get strange layout responses and partially missing images.

Spent today making a lot of changes

I've reviewed the layout and added a number of functions to the sidebar.

As well as the option to translate the blog with google translate, I've added news feeds, weather and a currency converter as well as some fun stuff.  I am all blogged out as a result.

Checkout the sidebar

This is only a first step.  I shall be making further changes during the few days moving some functions to separate pages and adding a menu bar.  Please bear with me if you have problems accessing the blog between now and month end.

Biding Time

Waiting for owner of the house to arrive next month before we can move forward.  Other than briefing the lawyer not much we can do until then.

Opened a new bank account in Udon, so I no longer have to pay a change everytime I withdraw cash from my existing Thai account.  Also got Internet Banking which saves a lot of hassle

Success of sorts

Finally got the Thai lady selling the house to accept that there was no way I was going to hand over the deposit to her father when I have not even seen the title documents.

She says it's a Chanote, it may not be.

Her Farang husband may have a Usufruct or 30 year lease recorded.

progress will be made when she arrives on 2nd/3rd next month

House

Looked at a house yesterday.  Needs some work but it is certainly worth considering as against the build option.  Need to check the dimensions in detail and rough out some plans before the owner arrives next month.

It's interesting how news travels

looking at another property on the outskirts of the village, this one fronting the main road.  It has wall built round it, room for a restaurant bar and has a reasonable sized house and a second 'staff quarters' that could be converted to hotel.

OK, it's more, but given the fact that there are no building costs for house, and it's on the main road......

Our Tigers!

It has to be said, it is slow at the moment....

Which is why posts are sporadic...  It is not worth posting the same news ' not much happening' every day.  Spending a lot of time sorting ebay listing for my brother back in the UK... setting up some 500 items for next year, so I'm busy!  However at the least I'll try and post photos from my tours of Isaan over the next few weeks

Hotels

If you are looking for a hotel in Thailand, check out my link in the side bar.

Gardening Plans

It seems to have been agreed that the back yard at mama's will be turned into a vegetable garden.  We'll see how eager they are when they start on the clearing and digging over!!!  Still if it works it will be a good source of fresh veg for the restaurant

Acquired Some Pets

Not sure why we have suddenly decided we need some fish.... But they are popular with all the kids in the village

Another Quiet Day

the highlight was a trip to town for a haircut. Of course it turned into a group outing... still 3 haircuts for 150 Baht can't be bad

Pattaya Trip

it's been some time suince I posted, but not a lot has been happening... Did the monthly Pattaya trip last week. This time by car so I could bring my remaining belongings north to Udon. So it's official I have left Pattaya.

I still want to do a monthly trip, but it is more likely that it will be to other places in Thailand than Pattaya. Yes we both have a few very good friends in Pattaya so we won't abandon the place completely. However we just did not enjoy the place.
